Gemma in the house!

Hey everybody!! One day left until Friday!!! I can't wait for the weekend to FINALLY get here!! I feel bad going to work everyday and leaving my bff home! At least she can relax and read and chill, but I want to hang with her!! :) This weekend we are going to try to make it to Rib Fest which is a pretty popular event held in the Chicago area every year. I haven't gone yet, but I like ribs! Other than that, hopefully some pool side relaxing is in my near future! :D

Today's color is brought to you by Zoya. I know I have said many times how much I love this brand, but I'll say it again: Zoya is amazing!!! Their formulas are great, they have awesome promotions, and fantastic customer service! What more can you ask for?! Today I have on 'Gemma'.  From the Zoya website: "Gemma can be best described as: Light muted olive green with an overlay of blue and violet duochrome shimmer. Unique, hip and cutting-edge yet subtle enough to suit any wardrobe." And that she is!! This color is so unique and complex, and I can't believe how long I waited to try it.

Zoya Gemma. I love the violet sparkles!

Nice Stems Wednesday!

Hey guys! In honor of Pink Wednesday, I have for you two colors from the new OPI Nice Stems collection. The colors in the collection are very pretty and feminine. The formula is great and opaque in two coats. I started with two coats of 'Be A Dahlia Won't You', and layered 'I Lily Love You' on top. 'I Lily Love You' is a sheer pink jelly base with tons of flakes! It is so pretty and I can't wait to layer it over other polishes!

Neon Splatter!

Hi guys! Today I have a super fun look for you! Do you remember blow art pens?! This is pretty much the same idea! It's been labeled a "Splatter" Mani, and is very easy to do! Here is a tutorial from Jessica's Nail Art. Basically, I painted my nails white, using China Glaze's "White on White". Then, I used scotch tape around the edges of my nails to have easier clean-up (similar to the way to tape off your nails when water marbling). After that, I picked a few bright polishes and put a drop into a paper bowl. I dipped the end of a coffee stirrer straw into the blob, aimed it over my nail, and blew into the other end of the straw, shooting the nail polish onto the nail in a splatter design. There is no right or wrong way to do this, and each nail will look a little different! You can combine colors however you like, and once you add a top coat (I used Seche Vite), everything is smooth and pretty! I can't wait to try this with different colors and using different bases! Let me know if you decide to try it! :)

The colors I used are: Orly Purple Crush, Orly Passion Fruit, Essie Brazilliant, and China Glaze For Audrey

This bottle is Orly Passion Fruit, and is pretty true to color. I can't believe how orange it pulled in the picture below!

Failed Flower Monday

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a TON of fun! I went out on Friday with Brooke and a few other friends to get dinner and sing karaoke! I am not a singer by any means, but we got up on stage and sang screamed Love Shack. It was a blast! On Saturday, Brooke and I did a little shopping at Old Navy (get it $2 tank tops!) and got pedicures (I highly recommend My Chihuahua Bites, by the way!), and laid out by the pool! We also picked up these Pandora Bracelets and got matching best friend charms. They are so cute! The charm is two dangling butterflies that connect together and pull apart to make two individual charms. I love my best friend!!
On Sunday, we took a trip to the city to shop at some nail supply stores! The Pride Parade as well as the Taste of Chicago were taking place, so the city was INSANE! But I managed to find a few goodies! Here is what's in store:

Now, not all of this is mine! Some of this is for swaps/sales, and some is for my 200 follower giveaway! I can't believe I am at that point already! You guys are truly amazing!! Thank you! :)

Now, onto the failed flower mani. In the facebook group I am a part of, every Monday we do different "themes". This week was floral. I started with a base coat of OPIs "Play the Peonies". It wasn't the best application (probably my fault), but I knew I was going to stamp over it, so I just let it be.

Then I stamped with Orly's Passion Fruit and Purple Crush using a flower image in one of the Bundle Monster plates. It did not come out how I imagined in my my head, but it was late and I was tired so I just left it. I then used China Glaze's "For Audrey" to stamp a different image on top, but that was an epic fail. The color wasn't pigmented enough so it just looks blah. Oh well, lesson learned!

Have a great day, everyone! :)

I'm in the mood for Friday!

Hiiiii everyone!!!! :) It's FRIDAY! And I'm psyched for the weekend!!! My best friend, Brooke, is visiting and we have a packed weekend planned! Including a trip to some nail supply stores in the city! I LOVE having her here, it's so nice to just be able to hang! She goes home on the 4th, but I will see her again when I go to Jersey next month for my Nana's 80th birthday! I am looking forward to getting back to my homeland!!!!

So, last night, I finally got around to trying the Mood Struck polish I picked up at Claires. I got the purple one (obviously), and it changes to pink depending on the temperature. Much to my surprise, this stuff actually works!! I used Essie Fill The Gap as my base, and then two layers of the Mood Struck polish. I topped it off with some Seche Vite and didn't notice any color changes. It was late, and I went to sleep. This morning, when I was getting ready, I got some hot water on my nails. I looked, and I saw pink and purple! It was a very exciting moment in my otherwise boring morning routine! So, here you go!:

Wing It! Thursday

Hi guys! Today, I wanted to elaborate on yesterday's color. I used OPI's It's All Greek To Me, which was a hot pink color. It was very pretty on its own, but I wanted to try a little something more with it. I recently purchased Wing It! by OPI which is a sheer orange-ish color with purple sparkles in it. It is SO pretty in the bottle, but a little on the sheer side. I layered it over It's All Greek To Me, and viola! Super shimmer/sparkle wonderment! I am excited to try layering Wing It! over lots of other colors to see the effect!

Thanks for stopping by!! :)

Pink Wednesday!

Hey everyone! What crazy weather we've been having!! Last night I was teaching the drumline at a local high school, and the tornado sirens started going off. We got all of the kids into the hallway, and had to wait it out. We were probably in the hallway for a little over an hour waiting to hear that it was ok to leave. When the storm finally passed and I drove home, there was tree debris all over the road and police cars and fire trucks everywhere! It was nuts! When I got to work this morning, we had no power, and apparently it had been out since 8pm the night before. It didn't come back on until 12:00 in the afternoon, and then we had to wait even longer for the internet to be back! Anyway!

Today is Pink Wednesday and I have OPIs It's All Greek To Me. I saw this on the shelf and was like, "Yoink! Mine!". It's a gorgeous, bright, hot opaque pink with flashes of blue micro shimmer. This is two coats of pure joy!
