Essie Braziliant

Hey Folks! I've heard orange is the color of this summer, and that Essie's Braziliant was the color to get! I finally picked one up, and it's BRIGHT! I am not a huge fan of oranges (well, I love the fruit, just not the color so much!) but I decided to give this one a try. Essie describes it as: "a hot orange with a touch of shimmer". This color is a true orange color that doesn't seem to lean too yellow, or too red. In the bottle, there is a definite pink sheen to it, but it doesn't really translate to the nail. The formula was a tad bit thick but some polish thinner would do the trick there. For the pictures below, I used 3 coats. Overall I like this color. I don't know how often I'll reach for it just because I prefer purples and pinks, but for a hot, summer's night out, this polish rocks!

Neon Splatter!

Hi guys! Today I have a super fun look for you! Do you remember blow art pens?! This is pretty much the same idea! It's been labeled a "Splatter" Mani, and is very easy to do! Here is a tutorial from Jessica's Nail Art. Basically, I painted my nails white, using China Glaze's "White on White". Then, I used scotch tape around the edges of my nails to have easier clean-up (similar to the way to tape off your nails when water marbling). After that, I picked a few bright polishes and put a drop into a paper bowl. I dipped the end of a coffee stirrer straw into the blob, aimed it over my nail, and blew into the other end of the straw, shooting the nail polish onto the nail in a splatter design. There is no right or wrong way to do this, and each nail will look a little different! You can combine colors however you like, and once you add a top coat (I used Seche Vite), everything is smooth and pretty! I can't wait to try this with different colors and using different bases! Let me know if you decide to try it! :)

The colors I used are: Orly Purple Crush, Orly Passion Fruit, Essie Brazilliant, and China Glaze For Audrey

This bottle is Orly Passion Fruit, and is pretty true to color. I can't believe how orange it pulled in the picture below!

Essie Smooth Sailing!

Hi there! Today I have a simple look for you guys, but one that I think is really pretty. It started with Essie's Smooth Sailing. I picked up this color and instantly loved it. It's a really nice periwinkle blue with a silver shimmer to it. To start, I used a few new products. First I applied Orly's Primetime, which is a chip-preventing primer, to be used under a base coat. Next, I applied Essie's Ridge Filling Base Coat. I don't really have any ridges in my nails, but wanted to try out some different base coats. I'm not sure how long you're supposed to wait before applying polish, but I waited about a minute or so. Then, I applied Smooth Sailing. I was not happy with the first coat. It applied very patchy and streaky, and polish would lift off after going back over a section. I normally use OPI's Base Coat, so I don't know if the problem was my base coat or the polish, so I have some comparing to do. The second coat was fine though, and any bad spots were easily covered up. I also had a new top coat to try, Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat in Silver (By the company "Out the Door"). You have to shake for a while to really mix up all the holographic particles as they sink to the bottom and stay down there, but once it's mixed an on your nails, it looks really pretty!

Have a great day! :)

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!

Hello to all of you in polish land! Today is Pink Wednesday, and I think I have my first successful stamped manicure for you! I started with Essie's Watermelon. It's a red/pink creme color that's pretty opaque in one coat, but as usual, I did two. It's a pretty vivid, in yo face color, which I like, but I decided to try my hand at stamping with a bundle monster plate (BM19). I am still getting the hang of it, but I think this time has been my best yet! I stamped with Essie's Chastity, which is a lighter, pale pink. It's a really pretty color and I like how to the two work together. The polish worked pretty well for stamping, too. So, here ya go! (Please excuse the dry cuticles!)

Nfu Oh Where have you beed all my life?!?!?!

As most of you know, there is a coveted nail polish brand named Nfu Oh. As far as I know, it can only be purchased from Fabulous Street, or for an exorbitant amount of money on Ebay. These polishes are amazing quality and really something special. Even the polish bottle is adorable! I know they are well loved for their holographic polishes, especially the elusive Nfu Oh 61 (which I managed to get when it was in stock for about 5 minutes!).  They are also known for their "Flakie" polishes, which, when used on their own can be sheer, but when layered, can transform a polish and take it to a whole new level. Today, I have for you the amazing, luscious, beautiful, gorgeous Nfu Oh 51. In the bottle you can see flakes of blue, green, gold, pink, and purple. It is magnificent. It seriously is like magic in a bottle! For this look, I started with Essie's "Sexy Divide". This color is really pretty on its own. It's a deep purple with a glass like finish and has over tones of pink. Then I added the incredible Nfu Oh 51, and honestly, I can't stop looking at my nails! I'll let the pics do the talking!

The Mother Haul

Hi there! Yesterday I went shopping with fellow nail blogger Karin, Karin's Nail Blog, and what a day we had! We went to a bunch of nail supply stores where you can get good polish for pretty cheap! I have a ton of swatching to do, and a ton of pictures to take, so be on the look-out for a lot of fun coming up! Here is a pic of one of the supply stores:

Isn't it glorious!?! I will leave you with a picture of what I purchased, and what you have to look forward to! :)
