Random!

Hey there! I started trying out some of the Funky Fingers I got in the previous post. I started with the mini ones. They are all pretty sheer, and take like 4 or 5 coats to achieve opacity. The pink/gold one and the blue/pink one were the lightest of the bunch. The green/gold actually turned out pretty well. I'll show you some pics:

The duo-chrome effect is subtle, but there. This is just a cute, pretty, peachy pink. There is still some visible nail line, but if you can get around it, it's not too bad. Here is the green/gold duo-chrome:

You can definitely pick up on the green and the gold. I actually really like this one! I wish these had names! Yesterday afternoon, a friend of mine came over with an Easter gift which included three polishes by Sinful Colors. It was a coral one, a purple/blue glitter one, and a purple sparkle one. I don't remember the names, but I messed around with them a little bit last night. Here is a sneak peak of some colors! I'll take more pics and swatches soon!

Ciao!

My Best Friend!

Hi there! I have a super exciting post to write about today... my best friend in the whole wide world, Brooke. She and I have known each other since we were 1. She is pretty much my sister and unfortunately, she lives in NJ and I'm here in IL. It's a real bummer, and I miss her A TON, but, it makes days like today extra special. I got a package from her with a bunch of goodies inside. She knows about my little obsession with makeup and nail polish, and must have taken it into consideration when putting this little bundle of joy together for me! First, this is Brooke and I:

Brooke and Tara: Halloween 1986

Brooke and Tara: New Years Eve 2010
We have been through so much together, and I know how lucky I am to have a best friend for pretty much my whole life. Love you, Brooke!!!! OK, so this is what I received today!:

So awesome, right!? The polishes are by Funky Fingers. The colors of the bigger bottles are as follows: the purple one is called Riot, the green one is called Wild Child, and the Super Amazing glitter one is called Sand and Stilettos. HOLY MOTHER OF BLING TO THE MAX!!!!!!! The other smaller polishes in the plastic are a collection called, "Mighty Brights". There are no individual colors names on the packaging or the polish itself,  but they appear to be a pink/gold duochrome, a green/gold duochrome, a purple/pink duochrome, and a teal/aqua/pink trio-chrome? I'll take some better pics when I do swatches. The other stuff is a bath bomb shaped like a cupcake, a loose pigment shimmer stack with a brush on the end, some Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play hairspray, a body spray and lotion, some Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Eggs, and she also included some metal plant stakes shaped like flowers. I can't believe she sent all this stuff!!! Oh, and you guys have to check out the card she sent with it:

It's so us!!!! hahahaha I love it! Alright so I'll have some swatches soon, but I could just not resist trying the glitter explosion. So here ya go:

I know it's blurry, but COME ON!!!! LOOK AT IT!!!!!

Gray Glitter on a Rainy Day

Hey guys! So yesterday was super dreary and rainy and stormy... what better of a color than gray to match the weather... and then add a little bling to spruce things up! I started out with two coats of Zoya Dove. Speaking of Zoya, they're holding their Earth Day polish exchange! Get the deets here: Zoya Earth Day Promotion . The polishes are only $4 and they will properly dispose of your unwanted polish, regardless of the brand! In all seriousness, Zoya is one of the best companies ever! Ok, so here is Dove:

Just a pretty light gray color with good coverage. Love the formula, as usual! So, to spruce things up, I thought I'd add a little Milani 509 HD. This is just one coat, and it adds a nice touch of sparkle/hologram-ness.

Thanks for reading! :)

Let The Sunshine In

Hi guys! I have a little scotch tape sun ray mani action for you today! These are so fun to do, even if they can be a pain and very frustrating! For this I used Milani 509 HD for the glitter, and OPI Ink for the main color. I really like this combo!

 Thanks for stopping by! :)

Ok, one more swatch post!

Today, I have two colors that are similar in idea, but very different in application and consistency. The first polish is Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri polish in the color, "Grape Going". This is a purple/blue duochrome, and has a shimmery finish. I can't believe I waited so long to try this one, I absolutely LOVE IT! The bottle is interesting in that it's square, and the brush surprised me too.. it's flat and has a triangle-ish shaped tip? I'll show you in a pic below. I don't like it, honestly. Maybe I just need to get used to it? I don't know, but whatever, I don't even care about the brush because I love the color so much. A friend of mine picked it out and gave it to me as a gift, and I couldn't have asked for her to pick a better color! It's magnificent!!!

Eeeeee! I love it! Hopefully you can see both the purple and blue in it! This is 3 coats of polish. It applied sheer at first, but was very easily build-able.

Next up is a color by Orly from their Cosmic Line. It's called, "Lunar Eclipse". I wish this color looked more like what's in the bottle, while on the nails. It's another purple and blue duo chrome, except this one is more of a glitter than shimmer. In the bottle, you can clearly see two distinct colors.

Unfortunately, once on the nail, it looks almost all blue. Maybe I can't twist my hand in a certain way to see the purple, but if it's that difficult, forget about it anyway! Argh, I'm so frustrated because I want to see purple! Purple is my absolute FAVORITE color ever in the world. So anyway, here are some pics of it:

All blue!

Still blue... but see, purple in the bottle!!

More blue again....

Ooh, ooh! Is that a HINT of purple sparkle I spy?

Still not purple...
I am still trying every which way to maneuver my hand to see some purple in the polish but it's not working out. I see flashes every once in a while, but I guess I'll have to settle for a pretty, sparkly blue!

a different color everyday! Right now I'm wearing Zoya Sooki! Hope you all are having a great weekend!!
Hi everyone! I'm in Dayton, OH watching WGI indoor drumline championships! Just wanted to give a quick hello! I brought nail polish with me and have worn

Told you it was swatches galore!

Today I have a fun color to show you... well, I think it's fun at least! It is called "Reggae to Riches" and is by China Glaze. It's a dark magenta pink color with blue shimmer duo chrome. I think it's a great color for summer, and one that I have been waiting to wear until the weather got warmer. I know I'll be rocking it quite a bit in the summer months. It's on the sheerer side, so it took like 4 coats to achieve the color I was looking for. But as you move your fingers through the light, the effect on the nails is so pretty! :)

In this picture, you can see the duo-chrome on the nails except the middle finger. Hopefully it illustrates how the color changes depending on the light

You can see the blue overcast in this picture as well.
Love this color!!
